Working together for a better Renfrewshire
The community planning conference events provide an opportunity for the Renfrewshire community and public agencies to come together to discuss the Renfrewshire Community Plan 2008-2017 and the progress being made towards achieving our community planning vision. Renfrewshire's ninth community planning conference events will take place in five separate venues across Renfrewshire. Choose which event you want to attend:
| Day/Date | Time | Venue |
| Wednesday 8 September | 9.45am - 2.30pm | Cargill Hall, Bridge of Weir |
| Tuesday 14 September | 9.45am - 2.30pm | Erskine Sports Centre |
| Thursday 16 September | 9.45am - 2.30pm | Glynhill Hotel, Renfrew |
| Thursday 16 September | 6.00pm - 9.00pm | Glynhill Hotel, Renfrew |
| 9.45am - 2.30pm | Paisley Town Hall | |
| Thursday 23 September | 9.45am - 2.30pm | Johnstone Town Hall |
Then choose which workshop you would like to participate in:
- Wealthier and Fairer - is about having a successful, sustainable economy which delivers wealth for Renfrewshire residents but also enables us to narrow the gap in life opportunities that people have. Examples of some of the topics discussed in this workshop are housing, employability, business support and area regeneration (including town centres).
- Smarter – is about how we will develop a culture within Renfrewshire where learning continues throughout life by encouraging participation in cultural, leisure and voluntary activities.
- Healthier – is about reducing the level of preventable deaths and ill health in Renfrewshire, both by improving access to services and levels of care and by providing people with the knowledge and encouragement to be as healthy as they can be.
- Children and young people – is about improving the extent to which public services plan and deliver their services for children and young people together. Partners are working together towards raising the quality of these services, providing better access to services for children, especially those in the greatest need, and ensuring that children and young people are protected.
- Older people – is about issues such as encouraging positive and active lifestyles and working together in partnership to ensure that services meet the changing needs of vulnerable adults.
- Safer and stronger – is about how partners will work together to ensure that our towns, villages and neighbourhoods are safe and that people in Renfrewshire are confident that their communities are safe.
- Greener – is about reducing the amount of waste that is generated and the amount of energy used, and encouraging the reuse and recycling of products and the protection of the natural environment of Renfrewshire.
- Alcohol and Drugs - is about reducing the social, health and economic effects of alcohol/drug abuse in Renfrewshire. Partners are working together to change attitudes and to make sure there is help available when it is required and that it is the right sort of help.
Entry is free, refreshments and a finger buffet will be provided.

Renfrewshire Council is currently distributing to each household in Renfrewshire an information booklet, ‘Difficult Choices for Difficult Times’ outlining the difficult choices we face and inviting the views of the public on which options they would prioritise. All responses to this engagement exercise would be welcome and we would encourage you to give us your views when you receive this booklet. These issues and the feedback from the consultation exercise will also be discussed at the Community Planning Conference.
