Reid Kerr college’s photography students have enjoyed considerable success at recent national award ceremonies. Four HNC & HND students were awarded silver commendations at the British Institute of Professional Photography Awards (BIPP) annual ceremony in Edinburgh.This is the third consecutive year the BIPP has honoured Reid Kerr students.
Robert Tabor, Senior Lecturer in Photography said, "These awards are the high point of the photographic year. Photographers across the country compete to gain recognition. For Reid Kerr College to win four awards is an outstanding achievement for the students and the staff of the photography section."
In addition, Cameron McMurdo who is currently completing an HNC in Photography at the Paisley college has won the category ‘Places’ in the ICI Student Digital Photographer of the Year competition. Cameron only started photography last year at the Auchenback Resource Centre in Barrhead on a Reid Kerr outreach community course.
His image ‘Solitude’ was chosen from an original entry of 3000. He collected his award at a prestigious ceremony held at ICI’s global headquarters in London at the end of May. Judges praised Cameron’s technique and creativity.
Photography student Billy Stirling, who combines work with full time study, was recently awarded a highly commended at the Scottish Press Awards. His winning image taken at the Braehead Arena of boxers will be displayed in Queen Street Station along with all the other winners.
