Reid Kerr College was named as the International Centre of the Year, scooping the gold award at the recent SQA annual awards. This award is presented to an SQA centre, based at home or abroad, that best demonstrates innovation, effectiveness and determination in forging international links.
The College achieved the silver award in 2004 and faced increased competition from other Scottish colleges and private providers to reach the final nominations in 2005 and the top accolade.
The gold award reflects the college’s work in Africa, Middle East, Asia, and in the new member states of the European Union, promoting and delivering SQA qualifications in the international marketplace. Over 300 overseas students participate in programmes in Paisley and in centres in Africa and India, obtaining qualifications to enable them to find and sustain jobs with companies in the oil and gas sectors, electronics, business services and in the hospitality and care sectors.
Joe Mooney, Principal said, “This prestigious award recognises the training expertise, commitment and innovation that Reid Kerr provides both at home and abroad. Congratulations must go to all the staff involved in supporting the development of our international business, student recruitment and the extensive range of support services on offer to students studying with the college.”
