As provost of Renfrewshire, I would like to wish all the readers the best for the Christmas season.
This is my fourth and final year as provost of Renfrewshire, before I stand down in May prior to the local elections.
Over the last 12 months there has been a lot to reflect on, but generally my job as provost has been interesting, informative and enjoyable.
I have especially enjoyed meeting the hundreds of people from all walks of life when carrying out my many duties as provost of Renfrewshire.

I have especially enjoyed meeting the hundreds of people from all walks of life when carrying out my many duties as provost of Renfrewshire.
I feel it is part of my job as provost to promote Renfrewshire at every possible opportunity as there are so many positive initiatives ongoing. Of special significance is my role in the Provost’s Community Awards. I have really enjoyed supporting and meeting all the people involved in these awards, as they recognise the efforts and achievements made by some special people who are truly an asset to the community.
There is a tremendous sense of community here in Renfrewshire and that is something we should all cherish. Children play a large part in our community and I have enjoyed meeting the young people of Renfrewshire through my job as provost. Over the last year I have been going out to meet pupils in Renfrewshire schools and by the time I stand down in May I aim to visit each and every school in the area.
Finally, on behalf of everyone at Renfrewshire Council, I would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Provost Ronnie Burns JP
