National Consumer Week (20 - 24 November)
Renfrewshire Council’s trading standards service hit the road to tell people their rights during National Consumer Week which ended on 24 November.
Trading standards staff held a special advice stand at the Anchor Mills Morrisons in Paisley on Friday 24 November. As well as handing out leaflets on consumer issues they were on hand to offer guidance on issues such as buying and servicing cars, booking holidays and purchasing houses and home improvements.
Bert Wilson, Head of Renfrewshire Council’s Regulatory Services, said: "National Consumer Week is all about raising the profile of consumer rights. We decided to focus this year on issues relating to large purchases such as cars and homes. We realise that these are things that most people don’t buy regularly and often feel unsure of all the correct procedures and what their rights are, especially when things go wrong.
