Local fostering campaign underway

Local foster carers Andrew Cavanagh, Alice Preston and Jim Telford at the launch of the campaign
We recently launched a campaign to highlight the urgent need for foster carers across the west of Scotland.

Our campaign hopes to encourage more people to come forward to foster and has been very successful so far, generating a great level of response from potential new carers.

We’ve also received good coverage in local and national newspapers and a feature on STV’s evening news.

Foster carers do not necessarily need to be part of a conventional, two-parent family, and our campaign aims to attract people who might not immediately think of themselves as possible candidates.

We offer ongoing training and full support and, in recognition of the valuable work they do, our carers receive a weekly payment of up to £580 for each child that they look after.

To find out more about our campaign please visit www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/fostering. Or, if you are interested in becoming a carer, please contact our fostering and adoption service for an informal chat on 0141 842 5158.
